For the May 11 Meeting we have a Chairman's Challenge

Saturday 11 May 2024, 11:00am – 5:00pm

The Challenge is to design and build a vehicle that will negotiate a simple maze, the walls of which will be made up from the hall chairs seats and backs.

The vehicle must conform to the following:-

• Power can be clockwork or electric. If electric power is chosen this must be provided by onboard batteries.
• Control of the vehicle must be mechanical, or electro mechanical, and all control items must be onboard the vehicle. No electronic components are allowed.
• The model size shall meet the following criteria:-
  • The length shall be between 7½” and 12½”.
  • The width shall be between 4½” and 7½”
  • There is no restriction for height.
• There will be a time limit of 3 minutes.
• The winner will be the vehicle that negotiates the most bends. If two, or more, vehicles negotiate the same number of bends the winner will be that vehicle that has completed them in the fastest time.

Whether you are a Meccano modeller, or someone simply looking for a great family day out, we invite you to come and hang out with us!

For one day only we're taking over the hall at Hainault Baptist Church and filling it with amazing Meccano models of all types and sizes.

Refreshments will be available and our friendly dealer Ted Muggridge will be in attendance should you wish to stock up on even more shiny Meccano!

The admission fee will be £5.00 for all visitors and members — accompanied children will be admitted FREE.

• The Hainault Hangout will take place on Saturday 7th December 2024 from 10:30am – 5:00pm at Hainault Baptist Church in Franklyn Gardens, Hainault, Essex IG6 2UT. For a map, please click here.
• The venue will be open for setting up from 8:30am on Saturday.
• If you are bringing a model, please click here and complete the form to book your table space.
• A limited number of free parking spaces are available adjacent to the venue, or for £6.00 at Hainault Underground Station nearby.
• Reserved parking spaces can be booked for disabled exhibitors (Blue Badge holders). Disabled toilets are available.
